Each year alumni and friends of Pembroke are asked to make donations to the College’s Annual Fund. This income is then used to support a range of activities which vary from year to year according to needs, from student scholarships and bursaries, to upgrading bedrooms, to wireless IT networking, to improving sports facilities, to archives projects, and so on.
In 2008-09 provision has been made for student activities to be allocated grants from this source. Activities should involve a group of students who are representing Pembroke through their proposed scheme. Grants are made at the discretion of an existing JCR-MCR-Development Office committee. Previous awards have been made to the Choir for a CD recording, the Dance Club to help cover costs, and other activities.
The maximum amount available per grant is £1,500 and an application form must be completed (one per group/activity) – these are available from Catherine Mcmillan in the Development Office, who is also available to answer any queries (email catherine.mcmillan@pmb.ox.ac.uk or visit the office on the 1st Floor of the Alms House). Applications must be submitted by Friday of 5th week and allocation will be decided in 6th week.
