STRENGTH ON THE COMMITTEE
My experience. Having participated on similar student-run committees at two other universities as well as for the two previous years at Pembroke, I feel that I’ve experienced enough to understand the delicate balance between governance and the need to allow students to shape their own community. In my view, the Committee’s main role is to serve as a vehicle of action for the students of the MCR, offering the advice and resources that enable every member of the community to make the most of their precious time at Oxford.

WHY PEMBROKE?
I applied specifically to Pembroke because a friend of mine studied here in the past and recommended it due to the college’s active social life and cozy facilities. My friend hosted me during my interview weekend and his recommendations were more than confirmed over the course of those three days.

FAVOURITE OXFORD MOMENT SO FAR?
The magic and excitement of Matriculation Day is unique and unforgettable, a ceremonial beginning to life as an Oxford student.

NUMBER ONE TIP FOR FRESHERS
Get involved in as many facets of Oxford life as possible! Pembroke’s rich social life ensures that you’ll have access to at least two ‘worlds’ (academic department and College), but there is plenty of time to explore the university further if you are willing to make the effort early on. Ask your Committee if you have any questions – that’s what we’re here for!
