YEARS AT PEMBROKE One

STRENGTH ON THE COMMITTEE I have had past experience on college committees. I like to organise (a lot). I started a tradition of theatre expeditions with the Pembroke MCR this year (London and Stratford so far…Globe next?). And I have been known to put on a classic West Country Cream Tea - cucumber sandwiches included.

WHY PEMBROKE? Silly question! Pembroke is the most welcoming and cosy community in Oxford. It encourages a healthy balance between work and play, fully supporting and rewarding academic achievements, but also giving students the opportunity to relax, play sport together, watch concerts together and eat cheese together (MCR soirees are yum). Pembroke 100% realises the benefits of the collegiate system and makes sure you benefit from them too.

FAVOURITE OXFORD MOMENT SO FAR? Matriculation – the whole day is utterly absorbing and you really begin to appreciate exactly what you are a part of as a member of the University.

NUMBER ONE TIP FOR FRESHERS Lively, sociable, fun times do not stop when you hit Grad life. Do join in on everything laid on for you in freshers’ week. When life in your Department becomes too stressful and chaotic for words, the graduate community in college is there to prop you up (with kind words, tea and big leather sofas), and to remind you that the world does not revolve around your fascination with sixteenth century medicinal cannibalism (speaking from experience…).
