Other Accommodation

Dear Pembrokian,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to Pembroke!

Unfortunately, Pembroke is a small college and is unable to offer accommodation to everyone. If you have been given a room in College or one of the Annexes, then that's great. However, if you've not been offered accommodation by College, please do not despair! I have lived outside College myself and thoroughly enjoyed it. The only downside of this is that you will have to go house-hunting, which can be stressful.

Firstly, I would suggest you join our MCR Facebook group and perhaps see if any other fellow Pembrokians are looking for housing. It makes financial sense to share with other people and it will be a lot more sociable.

Once you have decided what kind of property you are looking for, have a look at some of the letting agencies online. A good website where you will find plenty of properties to compare is findaproperty.com. Similar websites exist so please feel free to look around for one that you like. Popular estate agents in Oxford include North Oxford Property Services, Finders Keepers, Hamptons, Chancellors and College and County. As for the areas where most students tend to go to, they include Cowley Road, Iffley Road, St. Clements, Abingdon Road, Summertown and Jericho. All of these areas are within walking distance to college and the town centre or at least a short cycle or bus ride away.

Another option would be to check the accommodation section of the Daily Info website (www.dailyinfo.co.uk) where people will advertise rooms in shared houses or will be seeking housemates.

I hope this is of some use to you. If you have any questions or need any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me at Eleanor.white@pmb.ox.ac.uk. Enjoy the rest of your summer and I look forward to meeting you in the autumn.

Best wishes,

Eleanor White
