Our elected president Ed Glücksman, is pursuing a D.Phil in Zoology and can be contacted via email at edvard.glucksman@pmb.ox.ac.uk and would be happy to answer any questions at all about applying to Pembroke or what the community is really like.
Giles Henderson is a former senior partner of a major international law firm and the head of Pembroke College. Giles and his wife Lynne are close friends of the graduate student body whose understanding of the challenges of post-graduate life is sincere and considerable. You will meet them on our Cotswolds rambling days and very possibly upon being invited to dinner. They are busy but truly helpful people.
Mr John Church has overall charge of the financial running of the college, and, hopefully, you should not have to deal with him very often—just if there is a serious financial issue. You may be invited to see him in the first few weeks so that he can check that you are appropriately funded. His office is opposite that of the Accountant. His secretary is Jane Richmond, who can be contacted at (08165) 276 422.
Mrs Glynis Perry, sometimes referred to as the College Sister, is a qualified nursing assistant, who visits college daily during term time and can be seen Mondays to Fridays in Staircase 5. Her office hours vary but are posted on her door and in the lodge. She will visit anyone who is seriously ill in his or her room and call a doctor if necessary. Her info is glynis.perry@pmb.ox.ac.uk, (08165) 276 419.
Mr Brian Harvey is the Head Porter, in charge of the lodge, and many aspects of security. He can be contacted by phoning the main Lodge at (01865) 276 444.
Mr Simon Thomson is the Systems Manager for Pembroke’s computer network and is in charge of fixing all the things that might go wrong. Therefore, he is quite often swamped with work, and if you need something attended to urgently, you might have better luck contacting his assistant, Ms Sandra Simpson. IT Surgery Sessions are run Tuesday through Thursday from 11 – 12.30 in the Old Quad, Staircase 1, Top Floor, on a first come, first served basis. You can reach the IT Office at computer.officer@pmb.ox.ac.uk, sandra.simpson@pmb.ox.ac.uk, (01865) 276 440. For problems with your computer (as opposed to the college system) the Oxford University Computer Service offers a first class suppport network for graduate students having any problems.
